It’s a two way street.

You – the interviewee should also be assessing the position and company as a fit for you. Asking smart and pertinent questions is a good strategy as per RACHEL WEINGARTEN on Ladders.

Here is the list of ten questions you should be prepared to ask

  1. Why did you join the company?
  2. How does this role further your company’s mission?
  3. Tell me about your most successful employees.  What do they do differently?
  4. What do you expect someone in this position to accomplish in the first 60-90 days?
  5. What, if anything, in my background gives you pause?
  6. What is the turnover in your company, in the executive suite and in the department, I am interviewing for?
  7. What are the opportunities for growth and advancement?
  8. If you had a chance to interview for your company again (knowing what you know now), what questions would you ask next time?
  9. What haven’t I asked that most candidates ask?
  10. What are the next steps in this process?
