Great conversation is about listening to one another. And active listening is a key ingredient of any great conversation.

Rule #1: Don’t multitask.

Rule # 2: Don’t pontificate.

Rule # 3: Use open-ended questions.

Rule # 4: Go with the flow.

Rule # 5: If you don’t know, say that you don’t know.

Rule # 6: Don’t equate your experience with theirs.

Rule # 7: Try not to repeat yourself.

Rule # 8: Stay out of the weeds.

Rule # 9: Listen.
